Ultimately, what separates a winner from a loser at the grandmaster level is the willingness to do the unthinkable. A brilliant strategy is, certainly, a matter of intelligence, but intelligence without audaciousness is not enough. Given the opportunity, I must have the guts to explode the game, to upend my opponent's thinking and, in so doing, unnerve him.
So it is in business: One does not succeed by sticking to convention. When your opponent can easily anticipate every move you make, your strategy deteriorates and becomes commoditized.

About your Next Move
Think fast. Think under pressure. Think strategically. That’s how you win in business... and in chess. Our chess tournaments were certainly one of the most prestigious business events of 2007 and 2008. From setting to content, from sponsors to attendees: both events were absolutely evenings to remember.
On October 13th 2009 we will organize this chess event for the third time. And we are glad to have Mr. Kasparov as our guest once more.
Grandmaster Garry Kasparov, former World Chess Champion (1985-2000), will play chess against a dozen other players in a simultaneous chess tournament. Mr. Kasparov’s opponents will be business executives nominated by the different companies partnering with and sponsoring this exclusive business event.
As chess requires the same competencies entrepreneurs are looking for on the work floor, it is obvious we need to support chess in schools and make it more popular amongst young children. That is why we also actively seek the participation of these youngsters.
Therefore we will invite all chess clubs and all primary school to take part in a pre-tournament held in various locations on Sunday October 4th at the occasion of Open Bedrijven Dag. The weekend prior to the Chess event a further selection is made during a simultaneous game against Grandmaster Nigel Short. This is taking place at the Option premises. The winners of this game will get a seat at the table on Tuesday evening, and will oppose Mr. Garry Kasparov along with the business players.
